Historical Analysis

One of the most important capabilities of a DDC system is the ability to digitally archive records of the status of the system over time. At Durell we refer to this function as "trending".
The advantage of trending is that when a problem arises, the trend logs can be analyzed to find the cause of the issue. When we engineer a control system we maintain trends of temperature, humidity, pressure, flow, etc as well as the positions and commands that our controls are outputting.
The Delta system, like all mature DDC products integrates powerful trending capabilities within the individual controllers. These local trends generally store information pertaining to status in the previous day or week.
Sometimes more comprehensive trend analysis is required for certification for a museum or art gallery display, or other needs. We have the capability of maintaining historical records on a PC-based server (Historian). The Historian system downloads trend logs from the entire system in real time and archives them on a hard drive. The archive can then be accessed as a database for statistical analysis at a later date. Due to the nature of the storage medium, Historian trends are limited only by the size of hard drive rather than the relatively limited storage space of DDc controllers.
