Software

Using Delta Control's ORCAview OWS software, we design packages of graphical slides for use at operators' workstations. These slides show the operator each component of the system and the associated sensors and devices in their places. Text boxes are linked in real-time to the controllers in the building network to display readings, set-points, states and trend log data. There are several software packages that perform this function. They are outlined below.

Orcaweb

ORCAweb is a web based software package that is connected to a centralized server using an internal WAN or LAN connection. Through a web browser the user can view several tenant functions that make it ideally suited for use in a large facility with many tenants that are connected to the facility LAN. Through customized graphics an operator can browse the entire facilities from any PC with browser capability connected to the LAN. Through the web browser the user can modifying set points, turn units on and off manually and administer the security levels of other users. This software is designed for small to large facilities with unlimited user login capability. Features included:

Enhanced security features allowing blocking of certain functionality to groups of users or individuals, also setup of point monitoring via e-mail and trending.

The tenant portal pages allow each tenant to view a customizable web-page that displays the current status of the mechanical, lighting and access systems that serve their office area.

The Virtual Stat is a simple application that resides on the Windows toolbar. It allows the tenant to display their current space temperature. When a user double clicks the Virtual Stat icon a larger, more detailed user interface is displayed. ORCAweb has a Navigator view which displays the current system architecture and will allow the operator to manipulate properties on individual objects.

Orcaview

ORCAview is an industry-leading operating package combining an intuitive graphical user interface with powerful facility management capabilities. The workstation operates within Microsoft Windows 98/ME and Microsoft Windows 2000 and NT, providing ORCAview users with powerful control functions, great flexibility, and ease of use.

ORCAview includes the Navigator, an object-oriented system navigation and operation tool, complete with a built-in object editor and GCL program editor, and provides as an option the Illustrator graphics editor for creating customized system graphics. ORCAview provides monitoring and control of functions such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting and access and protects against unauthorized operation.

ORCAview communicates using BACnet data structures and communication services for Delta and third-party BACnet products as well as using proprietary protocols for Delta legacy products. ORCAview utilizes BACnet IP™ protocol to communicate over wide area networks including the Internet and/or intranet to connect to any given building or site. ORCAview utilizes BACnet protocol to communicate on Ethernet, local area networks, and MS/TP networks within the same site. ORCAview also utilizes BACnet PTP protocol to connect to any DSC (Delta System Controller) using RS-232 to provide local site-wide access or connect via modem for remote site-wide access.

Graphics

All OWS (Operator Workstations Software) comes with a customizable graphics package. That includes floor plain layouts, system architecture, lighting, card access, with real time data that is updated on the fly. With each graphics page you will be able to view command, status, and state of your buildings systems through animation and text boxes indicating reading and set points. Through the customizable package you can navigate from building to building room to room seamlessly inspecting Air Handling units, Chillers, Boilers, Lighting Control, Card Access, and CCTV, viewing trends and verifying functionality. Our packages can included system colour coding, indicators, help descriptions, engineering, alarm notifications as well as a wide variety of animation. Our graphics are extremely versatile and easy to shape into whatever may be be suited to your needs as a building monitor.

GCL Programming Language

Our controllers have an extremely diverse and customizable programming language that determines their control. Most control companies rely on fixed algorithm which limits what the company can do. Durell Control Systems is not bound by these limitations and therefore can do so much more. When implementing energy saving strategies and complicated sequences this customizable programming language is an extreme asset. This is why we are the preferred choice for research facilities, Universities, Hospitals, and other unique and complicated types of controls.

Box

Delta Controls prides itself in its BACnet capability. Please see the BACnet testing laboratories for a listing of all BACnet compliant products. Click logo below:

BTL

ASHRAE standard for HVAC/R communications. Delta Controls' products are some of the few solutions that communicate using native BACnet.

Systems incorporating native BACnet devices at all levels provide facility owners and managers with superior system performance and interoperability. They are not compromised by proprietary software drivers and/or external gateways, which typically degrade system performance (throughput) and limit functional scope. Rather, BACnet messaging is utilized to communicate through all system levels, providing a consistent and seamless system-wide communications infrastructure. This also ensures owners with maximum investment protection and freedom of selection for future system expansion and upgrades, since they are not bound by the technical and commercial restrictions of proprietary drivers/gateways, as well as their potentially high maintenance costs.

RS485 & RS232
This is a robust and inexpensive means of communication useful for maintaining legacy support with older systems that are being phased out in favour of CATs Ethernet due to bandwidth limitations.  Some Delta hardware can speak control protocols other than BACnet over RS485 and RS232.

Ethernet
This is modern and easily integrated with conventional computer networks at a low cost due to broad support.  Its high bandwidth best meets demand in large organizations.

UDP/IP
This is a low overhead networking protocol for Ethernet devices that allows for remote access via VPN or public IP.  Delta provides router hardware specifically designed to manage BACnet traffic over UDP/IP.
